  • Time To Find It

Here are some mixes I've worked on recently. The energies range from heavy to light. Please stop the player at the bottom of the page before listening to the tracks on this page. Complicated I know, but so is life!

  • String Theories is by Erosion Code. Two great guitarists writing instrumentals.Very fulfilling!http://www.myspace.com/erosioncode
  • Free is by Bryan M. A great topical song by a great singer.
  • Spirit Of The Times is by Carrie Armitage. I produced and engineered this track.
  • Into The Sublime is also by Carrie and I produced and engineered this one as well. http://carriearmitage.com/
Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

In The Studio

I love recording and gear and consider my small studio an instrument unto itself. Because I try to do everything myself, my studio is an indispensable tool for writing songs. Mastering for 'Ever heard the one about...' was done by Vic Pyle. Thanks Vic, you made a huge difference!
Here's the ever expanding  list:

  • 2 x Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor optimized for audio: These computers will spit out 100+ tracks of audio and 150+ plugs and use 40-60% processor power, gives me a chubby just thinking about it.
  • Lynx  AD/DA.
  • Reaper. This is the DAW that I use. Brilliant piece of software. Stable and powerful. Great community on the forums. Llama.
  • Yamaha HS 80m.
  • Great River ME 1NV x 2
  • Great River EQ 2NV. From sweet to surgical. Massive low end when patched with the ME 1NV.
  • UBK Fatso. Chocolate compression...very tasty.
  • Shure SM7b. Loves Carries voice but makes me sound like a tinny Freddie Mercury. This bit the dust for me!
  • Shure SM 57
  • Apex 460.Picked this mic up for $50. Best $50 mic I've ever owned. I'll have it modded soon.
  • Apex 210. This is the ribbon I'm using to smooth out my voice. Very interested in the Crowley and Tripp ribbons though.
  • AT 2020
  • Soundtoys Echoboy,Crystalizer,  Decapitator, PanMan, Filter Freak 1 and 2, Phase Mistress and Tremolator. These plugs are amazing. Period.
  • BFD2 with the JNF, Percussion, BFD Snares Vol 2, MD Snares, Yamaha Oak Kit expansions. The Yamaha Oak Kick is my go to kick. Awesome!
  • Acousticas EMT and Lexicon impulses. Wow!! Acousticas really nailed these boxes.
  • Reverberate conv. reverb. I don't need no steenkin' outboard verb. Oh wait....Yeah I do! Bricasti anyone?
  • CSR Algorithmic Reverb
  • Eos Algorithmic reverb
  • Stillwell Audio's 1973 eq,Vibe eq, Rocket compressor
  • DDMF Eq pro
  • Schwa's Schope
  • Spectrasonics Omnisphere
  • Roland Fantom X8. Thanks Bear!
  • Ken Smith CR6G. It is possible to love an instument, because I loooove my bass!
  • Godin LRX. Great Canadian made guitar with humbuckers and a piezo.
  • Fender Vibro Champ XD.
Next is an upgrade to Windows 7 and  i7 processors in the future although the Quads are purring along quite nicely! If it ain't broke...
Very interested in what Dave Pearlman is doing so I'll soon check out his mic's. Stay tuned!!
